Concept
A set of four natural brass rings, each featuring a unique frieze pattern inspired by organic forms. Depth was created by assigning a depth map to each element, after determining whether shapes would rise or recede within the ring’s surface.
Two designs feature leaf motifs; the ginkgo biloba and the bur oak. The other two rings continue the natural theme. One depicts koi fish swimming in a gently rippling pond, and the other is a personal design based on my late cat’s paw, with the distinctive calico markings that made it unique.
Developing these rings presented a challenge due to the complexity of depth maps. However, the process resulted in a collection that is both personally meaningful and visually complex.
