Concept
Pattern design featuring a fully illustrated coffee & tea themed suite displayed in a packaging application. Two of the four designs were created using simple vector shapes in Illustrator, while the other two were hand-drawn in Procreate. Despite the use of different design tools, the individual patterns can be paired with one another and remain cohesive.
Varieties of Tea Pattern
I created a set of two patterns that showcase 16 illustrated components of various tea varieties. One pattern features a grid layout with the common and scientific names of each tea, while the other pattern has a hexagonal layout without any text. These patterns can be used together or separately depending on the application. The challenge I faced while designing this pattern was to maintain a minimal color scheme despite the variety of ingredients being showcased.
Tools of the trade pattern
The “Tools of the Trade” pattern features six coffee appliances, including the moka pot, Aeropress, pour over, French press, tea bag, and gooseneck kettle. The illustrations are simplified and monotone, using six shades of gray to create the forms of the tools.
Latte Art Pattern
The “Cup of Joy” pattern was created to be cozy and inviting. It features five illustrated lattes that showcase popular techniques used to create latte art such as the rosetta, heart, and etching.
